Last term, Ms Boyko, Ms Kerr and four members of our Geared for Careers team took 16 students from Years 9 to 12 on an exciting excursion to the Puckapunyal Army Base for an Army Careers Day!
The weather was perfect, allowing our students, along with peers from other schools in the region, to fully engage with the various displays and activities designed to highlight the diverse career opportunities within the Army and Defence Force.
Key highlights of the day:
- One-on-one discussions: Students had the chance to speak directly with Australian Defence Force (ADF) members, gaining personal insights into their experiences and lifestyle.
- Career information: Attendees received detailed information on current job vacancies, salary, benefits, Defence University Sponsorship, Defence Force Academy, GAP Year programs, and STEM opportunities.
- Defence gear and vehicles: A large display featured Defence vehicles and equipment, allowing students to familiarise themselves with their functions and uses.
- Hands-on activities: Students participated in training sessions led by qualified Physical Training Instructors from the Australian Army and enjoyed rides in Army vehicles—an unforgettable highlight of the day!
Overall, the excursion was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore potential career paths and experience first-hand what the Army has to offer.
